The Power of Movement
By Anna Nichole | Dish Well Treats
Let’s be honest—sometimes “exercise” sounds like a chore. But what if we stopped looking at it as punishment and started seeing it as a gift?
Because that’s exactly what it is.
Movement is a gift you give your body. It’s a way to say, “Thank you, Lord, for this body that can walk, stretch, reach, and breathe.”
Whether you're dancing in the kitchen, riding your bike, or walking your dog around the block—you’re honoring the beautiful design God gave you.
Why Movement Matters
"For in Him we live and move and have our being." – Acts 17:28 (NIV)
We were made to move. Not just to survive, but to thrive.
Our bodies function better when we use them. Movement helps:
Boost your mood
- Strengthen your heart
- Improve your energy
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Support your immune system
- And here’s the best part? It doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Just 30 minutes of movement most days of the week can make a big difference.
Make It Fun and Make It Yours
You don’t have to run marathons or live in the gym. You just need to find what feels good to you. Movement should be something that fits into your life and brings you joy.
Here are some ideas:
Go for a walk while listening to worship music 🎧
- Dance around your living room like nobody’s watching 💃
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator 🏃♀️
- Do a quick stretch break between tasks 🙆
- Play tag with your kids or fetch with your pup 🐾
- Whatever you do, just move. Even little bits of movement add up to big results over time.
Move with Purpose
"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." – 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
When we move our bodies, we’re not just getting stronger—we’re worshiping. Every step, every stretch, every breath can be an act of praise.
Movement becomes meaningful when you connect it to your purpose: living well, loving God, and taking care of what He’s entrusted to you.
Let’s Get Moving!
So today, let’s shift the mindset from “I have to work out” to “I get to move.”
Let’s celebrate what our bodies can do instead of stressing about what they can’t. Let’s move because we love our bodies—not because we’re trying to fix them.
You don’t need fancy gear or a perfect plan. You just need a willing heart and a little space to get moving.
Let’s make movement a joyful, natural part of our everyday life—because healthy living should feel good, not forced.
